EPCG Licence
Zero-duty capital goods imports against an export obligation.
In simple terms
The Export Promotion Capital Goods (EPCG) scheme lets you import machinery and capital goods at zero customs duty, against an obligation to export a multiple of the duty saved over a period of years.
Because the obligation runs for several years, the scheme works best when the licence is sized against a realistic export plan. That planning is the part we focus on.
Who needs this?
- Manufacturers importing plant, machinery or equipment for an export product
- Service providers importing equipment used in earning foreign exchange
- Companies expanding capacity where customs duty on machinery is significant
- Existing EPCG holders needing installation certificates, extensions or redemption
Key benefits
Zero customs duty on eligible capital goods, reducing project cost
Export obligation spread over a period rather than a single year
Possible benefit for spares, tools and fixtures along with the machine
Structured yearly monitoring so the obligation is not missed
